Take a Control Discipline Snapshot
3 min read Updated 05 Jul 2026
The Control Discipline Snapshot is a one-off self-score across the ten control disciplines. Score each from 1 to 5 and get an aggregate score, a named status and your weakest areas — nothing is stored. Free accounts get a capped number of snapshots; paid accounts are unlimited and can link a result to a project check-in.
The Control Discipline Snapshot is a one-off read of your Control Index:
score the ten disciplines from 1 (Failing) to 5 (Optimised) and see your
aggregate score, a named status and the disciplines pulling it down. Nothing
is saved — the result exists only on the page in front of you, which makes
it a genuinely private baseline.
Reach for a snapshot when you want that baseline or an occasional pulse — before you commit to tracking a piece of work, or as a periodic gut-check. The real practice is a tracked project: repeated check-ins against the same work produce the trend a one-off read never can. Score once to see where you stand; track a project to see whether you're improving.

Link a snapshot to a project (paid plans)
On a paid plan, the result page offers to save the read as a check-in on a tracked project, so the score joins that project's trend.
- On the result page, find the

Continue to check-in →. - You land on that project's check-in form with your scores prefilled. Add narrative, confirm the mission, and submit it as a regular check-in.
Do this straight after taking the snapshot — the scores are held only briefly, and only for your few most recent snapshots. If you see "That snapshot has expired", take a new one and link it immediately.
Who can do this
Anyone with an account, on any plan. Free accounts get 5 snapshots (plus 5 for each successful referral); after that, snapshots and project tracking need a paid plan. Linking a snapshot to a project is paid-plan only. A snapshot is never stored, so no one — manager, team or account owner — can see yours.

Projects and the ten disciplines
Projects are where you track real work against the ten control disciplines. Create a project, set its outcome and delivery mission, then submit a short check-in on a cadence you keep — scoring each discipline 1–5 to produce a Control Index score, a named status, and a trend you can coach from.
Get started: run your own work to the standard
Your first session takes about half an hour: set your learning plan, take a one-off Control Discipline Snapshot as a private baseline, create one real project, and submit your first weekly check-in. Then check in again next week — the second check-in is where the trend appears.
Set and steer control points — dated next steps with owners
A control point is a dated commitment with a named owner: what will be true, by when, who carries it, and what happens if it doesn't. Set one from a project or during a check-in, then resolve it honestly — mark it held, or re-date it with a reason.
