Getting started
Team plansGet set up as a manager — run the loop, then bring the team in
3 min read Updated 05 Jul 2026
Set up in two stages: run the loop on your own work first — learning plan, snapshot, a real project, a weekly check-in — then invite your team from Members. Automatic reminders chase each member's learning plan so you don't have to, and Team progress opens up once their check-ins land.
You're rolling out a ritual, not installing software — and a manager who rolls out a ritual they haven't run themselves churns the team's trust. So the setup comes in two stages: run the whole loop on your own work first, then invite the team and let the system do the chasing.
Your Dashboard shows this as a checklist — "Your first control points" — under the heading "Run the loop yourself, then bring the team in". This article walks the same order.
Run the loop on your own work first
- Press
Set your learning planon the checklist. Two minutes — your own pace for learning the standard. - Open Control Discipline Snapshot in the sidebar and score the ten disciplines once. About ten minutes; it's your private baseline.
- Open Projects and create a project for a real piece of your own work — mission, pillars, and a score over time.
- Submit your first weekly check-in on that project.
The checklist ticks each item off as you go. By the end you can answer your team's first "what is this?" question from experience, not from a rollout deck.
Invite your team
- Open Members in the sidebar (under Admin) and press
Invite teammate. - Enter their name, email and role — and a team, if you've set teams up.
- Leave
Remind them to set a learning planticked (it's on by default). - Press
Send invitation.
Each invite emails a single-use link valid for 14 days and appears under
Pending invitations, where you can Resend or Revoke it.
When someone accepts, they get their own dashboard and their own checklist —
learning plan, snapshot, project, check-in — the same loop you just ran
(point them at getting started as a contributor).
You don't chase the learning plan: the system emails an automatic reminder a
day after they join and again after a week, until the plan is set. The
Members page shows each person's reminder state — what's already been
emailed and when the next one is due — and a Stop reminders link if
someone asks to opt out. If you have members who joined before reminders
existed, press Enrol everyone in reminders to backfill them in one go.
Open Team progress
Once a member has submitted a check-in, open Team progress in the sidebar.
- Read the headline tiles — projects, projects with check-ins, mission gaps — then the per-project scores.
- Check
Project control by person, sorted lowest aggregate first as a coaching priority;Brief →prepares a 1:1. - Watch
Learning progress by personfor plans, book reading and assessments.
The organisation trend chart draws once a second check-in lands anywhere in scope. One honest note on visibility: you see project scores, check-ins and learning progress — never a member's snapshot detail, draft answers or private Friction Log. See Team progress for the full breakdown.
Delegate with Ownership (optional)
When you're ready to hand over a named outcome rather than a task, open
Ownership in the sidebar and create a delegation. The Delegation map
button on Team progress shows who owns what across the team. See
Ownership and delegations.
Who can do this
Team plans and above. The Members page needs organisation-settings access (the Admin and Manager roles, and the account owner); sending invites also needs the invite-team-members permission, which those roles hold by default. Team progress needs the team-dashboard permission and is scoped to the teams you manage — or everything, if an account owner has switched on "sees all teams" for you.

Members, roles and permissions
The Members page is where you invite teammates, assign the role that sets what they can do, watch invite and onboarding status, and archive leavers to free a seat. Invites are single-use email links valid for 14 days; roles range from Manager down to read-only Viewer.
Read the Team progress view and coach from it
Team plansTeam progress is the manager rollup at /team: coaching prompts worth a conversation, every project's latest score, a per-person control and learning summary, and trend charts. Read the prompts first, drill into a person before a 1:1, and send a learning-plan reminder where one is missing.
Delegate responsibilities and track ownership
Team plansOwnership tracks the responsibilities you hand to others and the ones handed to you — each with one owner, an outcome, a standard, constraints and a check-in rhythm. Delegate in six short steps, let the system chase the check-ins, and use reflective reviews to keep, pause or retire each responsibility.
Get started: run your own work to the standard
Your first session takes about half an hour: set your learning plan, take a one-off Control Discipline Snapshot as a private baseline, create one real project, and submit your first weekly check-in. Then check in again next week — the second check-in is where the trend appears.
